The Last of Us – First Look Photo – HBO
The Last of Us – Co-creator and executive producer Neil Druckmann tweeted the first shot from the show during Thursday’s Summer Game Fest. The photo features Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey in their roles as primary characters Joel and Ellie.
In November 2020, HBO announced that they had given The Last of Us a series order. The show is based on the video game franchise created by Naughty Dog.
It takes place 20 years after the collapse of civilization as we know it. Ellie, a girl of 14 years old, is to be smuggled out of an oppressive quarantine zone by Joel (Pascal, The Mandalorian), a hardened survivor and father of a deceased daughter. Ramsey, a former Game of Thrones cast member, will play Ellie. As they travel across the United States, what begins as a simple job quickly escalates into a treacherous journey during which they must rely on one another for survival.
Besides featuring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey in the lead role, Gabriel Luna, Merle Dandridge, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Nick Offerman, Jeffrey Pierce, Anna Torv, Ashley Johnson, and Troy Baker are also a part of the cast.
Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker, both voice actors in the Last of Us video games, will be a part of the television series that will air on HBO. They won’t be playing the characters they voiced in the video game but rather entirely new ones. This news was disclosed by Druckmann, who is also the writer and creative director of the best-selling video game.
Co-creators, co-executive producers, co-writers, and co-directors of the show are Druckmann and Craig Mazin. In addition to Carolyn Strauss and Evan Wells, the show is also executive produced by Carter Swan, Rose Lam, and Asad Qizilbash. Producing companies include Naughty Dog, Word Games, PlayStation Productions, HBO, and Sony Pictures Television. In addition toKantemir Balagov and Jasmila Zbanic, episodes will be directed by Ali Abbasi, Peter Hoar, Jeremy Webb, and Liza Johnson.
